Living with mental health challenges often feels like carrying more than you should have to. Sometimes medication can be a big piece of the puzzle in addition to therapy in providing relief and support so that taking a step towards healing feels possible.
These struggles matter because they touch every part of your life: your work, your relationships, and even how you see yourself. With the right care, medication can help you feel more present, more connected, and more in control while also making it easier to engage fully in therapy and healing.
Hello, I’m Christie Song, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. I love partnering with clients to develop a personalized treatment plan: whether through medication, natural therapies, or lifestyle strategies while collaborating with your therapist to help you feel more grounded and empowered.
I see medication management working best when it helps you engage in daily life and be your best self, living a meaningful and fulfilling life. My approach is all about partnership and collaboration: I work with you using evidence-based care, which combines your preferences, the most current research, and my clinical expertise. I view our relationship as a dynamic collaboration: as we gather pieces of your story and experiences, we develop a clearer understanding of your symptoms and challenges, which helps us continually refine your treatment plan to best support your goals.
I work with children age 7 and up, adolescents, and adults who are experiencing mental health challenges such as anxiety, mood, ADHD, trauma, sleep difficulties, addictions, eating disorders, autism, or schizophrenia, as well as those navigating major life stressors or chronic illness.
As we optimize your treatment, you may begin to feel more able to engage in daily life, build meaningful relationships, and nurture your overall well-being. Success is about feeling more like yourself, with the energy and clarity to pursue the life that matters to you.
I earned my Master of Science in Nursing, specializing as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, and my Bachelor of Science in Nursing, both from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. For my master’s thesis, I focused on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy as a treatment for secondary anxiety and depression in patients with serious medical illnesses. During my master’s program, I worked with people in outpatient psychiatry, an inpatient adolescent eating disorder unit, an opioid treatment program, and a psycho-oncology program, gaining comprehensive experience caring for diverse mental health populations. Before becoming a nurse practitioner, I worked as a nurse at Duke Medical Center, supporting people with cancer during a critical and challenging time addressing both their medical and emotional needs.
Outside of work, I practice yoga and spend time in nature to stay grounded and energized. Somedays, I also love to just take a day off and spend time on the couch caught up in a good TV show. I love cooking new recipes (and tasting them!) with my fiancé and friends while enjoying deep, heartfelt conversations. At home, my cat Momo keeps me company, and my puppy Sesame makes sure there’s always a little playful chaos.
I look forward to working together and appreciate being a part of your journey.
