Rebecca Meyer

Hi! My name is Rebecca Meyer. I am a Licensed Marriage and Therapist Associate, specializing in adults and couples.

Do you ever feel like you have trouble connecting to the people around you because you worry about your worth? Or do you often feel like even though you want to smile, you can’t quite get there? Sometimes in our lives we are bogged down by our fears, insecurities, and the pressure we dish out for ourselves. Wouldn’t it be nice if we could get to a place where we could recognize the parts of us that are hard while also being able to enjoy our relationships, learn from our past, and feel confident about the life we’ve chosen to create for ourselves?

I would love to come along side you in your journey towards becoming more connected, bettering your relationships, and feeling like a weight has been lifted from your body.

I conceptualize therapy through an attachment lens. We all come from early experiences that have shaped us into the people we are. These experiences should be acknowledged and understood. I want to help give insight into the barriers that you have created that no longer serve you, while – also creating a safe and trusting environment where you feel understood, and free to explore your emotions. The relationship we create together will be one based on mutual respect and trust. Together we will uncover the strengths you already have and use them to work toward your goals.  I believe that being healthy means having access to all of our emotions. In session I want you to be able to laugh, just as much as you may cry.

I have done a lot of work with teens and adults from diverse backgrounds. I have experience working with people who are struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, and adjustment to life transitions. I also have experience working with adoption and issues surrounding those who are struggling with their sexuality.

Therapy is an important process and I would be honored to be who you chose to collaborate with in your efforts to feel fulfilled in the life you are living.

If I sound like I could be a good fit for you, I’d love to work with you. We work hard to make scheduling an appointment simple and straightforward, so the first step into therapy is the easiest.

Currently, I offer morning, afternoon, and evening sessions throughout the week as well as weekend sessions. If you think that we would be a good fit, give me a call at (919) 587-8018 or email or check out mathewscounseling.net for more info, availability, or to book a session.

I look forward to working with you.

Rebecca is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate, currently under the supervision of Dr. Adam Mathews. She is currently taking new clients with weekday and weekend availablity.

What our clients are saying about Rebecca

“I guess around the third or fourth session when I actually started opening up about things I’ve never told anybody even previous therapists was when I realized that this counseling was working. Also, my therapist regularly asks me questions that have shaken my worldview and cause me to leave re-thinking so much about myself and how I have worth.”

“After seeing several counselors elsewhere, this was the first time I felt genuinely heard and understood. My therapist’s approach challenged me while uplifting me. He regularly affirmed me and all the places that I most hated myself, and has genuinely challenged me to hold a better view of myself than I ever have.”

“Therapy was terrifying at first. But not feeling judged was extremely helpful. Previous therapists felt rather remote and disconnected. Here, I got some input into practical steps I can take to change my perspective. That is critically important. I feel calmer. More at peace. I still struggle, but I can recognize that for what it is.”
