Michelle Nagel

The journey of life can be unpredictable, especially after the last few years with a pandemic thrown into the mix. It can sometimes be hard to navigate different life experiences with all that we go through on a daily basis in this “new normal” we reside in. Reaching out for help through therapy is a brave first step and one that your future self will be so proud of you for doing. I am already cheering you on! I am truly energized by helping people reach their full potentials and realizing the power they already have inside to accomplish their dreams.

Hi! My name is Michelle Nagel and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate.

It is such a privilege to work with individuals and unpack various life circumstances in the context of therapy. My goal is to provide a safe space where a strong rapport is built and cultivated. I strive to provide a unique treatment plan to each individual that I encounter utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, somatic interventions and other evidence-based therapies as needed. I support individuals in the process of learning and incorporating new tools into their daily lives. These tools can be categorized into healthy boundary setting, resiliency building, finding your voice and so much more. Areas that I specialize in include anxiety, life transitions, stressors, autoimmune issues and spiritual concerns.

To share a little bit about myself, I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate in the State of North Carolina. I received my Masters of Social Work from Fordham University in New York. Prior to that, I received my Bachelors of Arts in Human Development and Family Science. Much of my experience thus far has been working as a medical social worker and therapist with young adults, adults and seniors.

Outside of being a therapist, I am enjoying settling into my new home with my amazing other half and am a relatively new resident of North Carolina from New York. I enjoy walks with my 8 month old mini golden-doodle Luna, yoga and trips to the beach. Alpaca’s steak fries are one of my favorite Friday night specials and I can’t get enough of mint chocolate chip ice cream!

I am excited to learn more about your current path and know that together we can enhance the quality of your life.

I am looking forward to starting this journey with you!

What our clients are saying about Mathews Counseling therapists

“Therapy was tough, but in a good way. It challenged both my husband and me to think about how each of us interacts in the marriage.”

“After seeing several counselors elsewhere, this was the first time I felt genuinely heard and understood.”

“My husband was worried about the therapist “taking sides”, which doesn’t happen.  It’s a collaborative conversation and we are delving into other issues that were not readily on the surface.”
