If I were to ask you right now, “what is the loudest message your childhood whispers in your ear?” What would you say? Would you be able to identify where that message came from? Would it be one that is positive, helpful, and motivating? Or is it one that is unhelpful, draining, and defeating? If it is the latter and you are ready to begin silencing that message and amplifying a message of goodness, growth, and confidence within yourself that you can carry in and through every area of your life, then let’s get started!
Hi, I’m Kim Daley and I am a couples and family therapist here at Mathews Counseling. My intention and desire is to help you, your family and your significant other heal in the areas of your life and relationships that you have begun to lose hope in or feel could benefit from growth changes. Whether it is trust, communication, strained relationships, or issues with intimacy, I aim to create a safe space for us to intentionally navigate the experiences that both shaped you and affect how you show up to your life each day.
My approach to therapy is one that is both integrative and eclectic and prioritizes your goals. I utilize many Cognitive-Behavioral (CBT) and Dialectical-Behavioral (DBT) techniques and tools in a collaborative way with various systemic approaches, including Attachment Theory, Emotion-Focused Therapy, Narrative Family Therapy, and Solution-Focused Family Therapy. Through these therapeutic models, we will work collaboratively to explore your strengths, the dynamics within your life and of your relationships and determine the avenues that lead to transformation, fullness and peace.
I do offer the ability for you to incorporate your faith into this therapeutic space. As something I offer to clients upon their request, Christian Counseling is something I am passionate about and believe lends itself beautifully into this challenging work of introspection and lasting change.
I work with couples dealing with communication issues, navigating life transitions (parenthood, premarital/marriage, new jobs, etc.), and desiring to increase intimacy. I also work with blended families, mother-daughter relationships, and new mothers, and individuals navigating grief, anxiety, and self-esteem issues.
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapy Associate. I earned a Bachelor’s in Psychology from North Carolina State University and a Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from Liberty University. On a personal note, I am a wife, mother, bonus mom, and a dog mom! I love to dance, read, watch Disney and Marvel movies, and I am really into creative journaling.
I am honored that you have considered allowing me into this space of your life and I am excited for us to begin the process of healing and thriving!
My ultimate goal is to allow you the tools and resources that can help you freely thrive in love and life! We were created to live, not merely exist. Living includes experiencing the fullness of what each day has to offer and choosing what we have to offer fully to each day. I welcome the opportunity to dive into what this looks like for you, how you could apply it to your life, and how it can positively impact your relationships, family dynamics, and view of yourself.
