Kenzie Davis

Life is filled with many troubles. At times, it may become incredibly overwhelming to balance all of the roles you play daily. And, unfortunately, I’ve found that there is no “off” button to hit when you have reached your limit.

However, imagine a space where you can walk in and let your shoulders drop from your ears. There’s a moment in time for you to close your eyes, take a deep breath, and let down the weight you’ve been carrying all week. This is your chance to say what you feel and feel what you say with no restrictions or repercussions. The only other voice present is someone whose primary focus is your health and wellness.

Hello, my name is Kenzie Davis. I am a therapist here at Mathews Counseling.

I assist individuals who deal with anxiety, stress, and self-identity exploration. I also enjoy working with individuals exploring intimacy issues, reproductive concerns, medical diagnoses both acute and chronic, as well as caregiver stress.

I also work with couples who struggle with communication, lack of trust, and mutual respect. I will teach you techniques that will help reduce insecurities and increase connection through my strength-based approach. I aim to help couples move past old wounds, ineffective communication styles, or mismatched sexual needs with appropriate guidance. The tools learned will create a relationship of feeling heard and validated by your partner.

On this path towards change, I will be alongside you. I believe in using a client-centered approach that values your expert position in your life without judgment or shame. To promote the hope and healing necessary to reach your goals, I tailor my approach to fit your needs. My primary focus is to help you holistically explore your identity because I believe every single part of you is critical to your overall wellness. Each of these parts dictates our thoughts which in turn determine our actions.

A typical session with myself includes curiosity and humor. I tend to take a curious stance with my clients because curiosity increases insight and self-exploration. I also love to laugh and find that conversations with clients flow better when authenticity and humor lighten the mood.

The ultimate goal is to work through your obstacles and reduce negative symptoms along the way. There is a champion inside everyone, and I want to help you find that within yourself. I am passionate about helping my clients identify who they are now, who they want to be, and what they need to become the version of wholeness they desire.

I earned a Bachelor’s in Psychology from UNC at Greensboro and a Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from Pfeiffer University. On a personal note, I am a sports fan who loves volleyball and basketball. I love to cook new recipes, travel, and experience new life adventures in my spare time.

To begin the process, you can schedule an appointment with me online at or by calling the office at 919-587-8018.

I am honored and excited to start this journey with you.

Kenzie is currently scheduling new clients and has availability Monday through Friday with evening appointments available. At this time, she is scheduling online appointments.

What our clients are saying about Mathews Counseling therapists

“Therapy was tough, but in a good way. It challenged both my husband and me to think about how each of us interacts in the marriage.”

“After seeing several counselors elsewhere, this was the first time I felt genuinely heard and understood.”

“My husband was worried about the therapist “taking sides”, which doesn’t happen.  It’s a collaborative conversation and we are delving into other issues that were not readily on the surface.”
