DeAnna Strickland
Life can feel overwhelming when you’re constantly overthinking, managing stress, navigating relationships, or trying to be everything for everyone. You may know that something needs to change but feel unsure about where to start. Therapy can provide a space to slow down, better understand what you’re experiencing, and begin making meaningful changes without having to figure everything out on your own.
I’m DeAnna Strickland, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate with Mathews Counseling, and I’m passionate about helping adolescents and adults feel heard, supported, and more confident as they navigate life’s challenges. I work with individuals experiencing anxiety, stress, self-esteem concerns, relationship and family challenges, difficulty setting boundaries, emotional regulation concerns, and life transitions. I understand that reaching out for support can sometimes feel uncomfortable, and I strive to make therapy a space where you can show up as yourself without fear of judgment.
My therapeutic style is warm, collaborative, supportive, and person-centered. I believe you are the expert on your own life, while my role is to support and guide you as we explore your experiences together. I use a strengths-based, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)-informed approach, along with other evidence-based interventions based on your individual needs. Together, we may work on challenging unhelpful thought patterns, developing healthier coping strategies, strengthening communication and boundaries, increasing self-awareness, and improving emotional regulation.
I believe therapy is not about someone telling you what to do. It is about having a space where you can better understand yourself, recognize your strengths, and develop tools that help you move toward the life you want. Success may look different for everyone—whether that means managing anxiety more effectively, feeling more confident, communicating your needs, establishing healthier relationships, or simply feeling more like yourself.
Outside of being a therapist, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, traveling, creating memories, and finding time to relax and recharge. I value genuine connection, authenticity, and creating spaces where people feel comfortable being themselves.
DeAnna is a therapist and meets with clients through Telehealth and in-person during afternoon, evening, and select weekend hours.
