There are many obstacles life may throw at us. Often these obstacles are unexpected and throw us off our desired path. Sometimes it may even feel that we have lost our way and our original path is out of sight, unable to be found. You may start to feel defeated or overwhelmed by what to do next. But with a little help, there is hope that you can rediscover your path or create an even better one!
Hi, I’m Bria White and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate here at Mathews Counseling. I would love to assist you on your journey towards healing and rediscovery. I place high value on fostering a safe space for you to be open regarding things you are currently finding difficult to navigate. Change can be hard, and vulnerability can be scary, but I strive to help you embrace change in a healthy manner to gain peace.
I have a passion for working with adolescents struggling with academics and anxiety issues, as well as adult individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, parenting struggles and life changes. Additionally, as a veteran of the US Air Force, I also truly enjoy helping service members, families, and the LGBTQIA+ community, as well as those with substance use disorders
I utilize a variety of therapy techniques including psychoeducation, cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, solution-focused therapy, emotionally focused, and goal-oriented therapy. All that to say, I tailor my therapy to meet your needs. I provide therapy through a non-judgmental, values-affirming, strengths-based approach to ensure that you feel comfortable coming to session as your true authentic self. My therapeutic approach is Evidence-based and Results-Oriented to assure that we create measurable attainable goals for you. I believe highly in meeting you where you are and working at a pace where you feel comfortable, as we support you in reaching your goals. I utilize a collaborative approach to assist you in achieving a successful, fulfilling, and productive life.
I received my bachelor’s degree in Sociology from American Military University and my Master’s degree in Social Work from Fayetteville State University. My counseling experience includes working with children 11 years old and older, teens, young adults, and families.
I am originally from New Orleans, so in a session with me you will experience an abundance of southern hospitality as I strive to make you feel as comfortable as possible. Additionally in session, I provide tools and coping strategies so that we work towards making your current stressors more manageable.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my son, attending music festivals, and traveling.
If you think I might be a good fit for you and your needs, give us a call or request an appointment online.
I look forward to working with you!
