Allegra Ali-Martinez

The period of time between childhood and an adulthood can be stressful, confusing, and frustrating. Plus, try as they might, sometimes it seems like the adults around you have forgotten how to relate to the difficulties of adolescence. On the other hand, being an adult doesn’t exactly come with an instruction manual either, and it’s no easy task navigating the trials and responsibilities that come with being a “grown-up.” But sometimes when you’re feeling alone or unheard, the undivided attention and full support of one trusted person can make all the difference.

I’m Allegra Ali-Martinez, an intern therapist at Mathews Counseling, and I would be honored to work with you and to be on your team. I understand that trust is earned, not expected, and that it may take time to feel comfortable enough to be open and vulnerable in therapy. We will work at your pace, and with your full participation. If you tell me something isn’t working, my response will be, “let’s try something else!”

I work with adult individuals, couples, families, children/teens (8+ years old). The longer we work together, the lighter your burden will feel, and the less frustration and dread you’ll experience in your day-to-day life. Of course, while I cannot change your circumstances, I can do my best to help change how they affect you. Feeling lost sucks, but I believe that our work together can help you find your way again. I have obtained a Bachelor of Science in Sociology from East Carolina University, and I am currently earning my Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy at Capella University.

In my free time, my favorite thing to do is sit in my living room with my husband, our dog, and our cat, watching animated shows or listening to music together. Although, occasionally we do emerge for a nice dinner (usually Italian food, my favorite!).

I have availability for appointments on Mondays,Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and I am currently accepting new clients for both in-person and Telehealth appointments. I am practicing as a clinical intern under the supervision of Dr. Adaria Warner, LMFT.

If I seem like a good fit for you, please give our office a call at 919-587-8018 or request an appointment with me online at www.mathewscounseling.net.

What our clients are saying about Mathews Counseling therapists

“Therapy was tough, but in a good way. It challenged both my husband and me to think about how each of us interacts in the marriage.”

“After seeing several counselors elsewhere, this was the first time I felt genuinely heard and understood.”

“My husband was worried about the therapist “taking sides”, which doesn’t happen.  It’s a collaborative conversation and we are delving into other issues that were not readily on the surface.”
