In which we dig through the internet for our favorite articles related to wholeness and healing in relationships:
ARE YOU A PRISONER OF PERFECTION? via Psychology Today
Many of us are perfectionists with good intentions. This means we set high goals for ourselves as a way to push us to be better. We like for things to be pretty, primp, and proper. Nothing wrong with that, right? Ehh. There are so many things underneath the surface for a perfectionist that others may not see. This article does a great job at uncovering the different emotional and psychological factors that feed into being perfectionist and what to do in order to feel liberated from this prison.
THE JOYS (AND TEARS) OF PARENTING MY ADULT CHILDREN via The Gottman Institute
Parenting adult children is a process not often talked about. Like the article stated, it’s much of a balance. They outgrow our laps but never outgrow our heart. So with that being said, parents have to figure out what their child needs in that stage and adjust to it. You may not be kissing boo-boos anymore when they are 30 but you may still be sitting at the kitchen table talking about the stress of relationships. New joys. New tears. New experiences.
